Complete Cosmetic Crowns Smile Makeover
for a "Billion Dollar Hollywood Smile"

Undoubtedly, the majority of busy adults and executives do not possess the necessary time or patience to undergo brace-fitting for tooth alignment, especially in cases where teeth are severely crowded, discoloured, adorned with multiple old crowns and fillings, or afflicted with gum disease. In such scenarios, orthodontic movement of teeth is ill-advised.

Additionally, the cessation of brace-wearing does not terminate the obligation of retainer usage, which must be sustained for several years to prevent tooth movement, thereby necessitating a return to the initial stage.

An alternative solution constitutes the capping of all front teeth in the aesthetic zone with crowns, thereby generating a stunning smile. This procedure is analogous to the application of a new enamel veneer layer for teeth, facilitated by premium ceramics such as Zirconia or Emax.

Delicate yet proficient tooth preparations are indispensable, yet executed minimally, given their purpose of supporting a superficial shell set of cosmetic crowns.

The tooth preparation process is meticulously designed to conservatively consider all existing irregularities of your teeth, incorporating any defects, prior damages, fractures, decay, and the like. Consequently, upon the fitting of crowns during the subsequent visit, everything will be harmonized, balanced, and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring longevity of at least 30+ years, if not perpetuity.

The entire treatment process is guaranteed to be both painless and expeditious. The procedure is characterized by its seamlessness, and will not in any way interfere with or disrupt your daily routine. It is accomplished in a mere two appointments. The first appointment entails teeth preparation, followed by the immediate installation of temporary provisional teeth. This intervention will result in an immediately noticeable enhancement of your smile, which may even surpass your original smile in brilliance. It is highly unlikely that anyone will suspect that you are undergoing dental treatment.

Following a period of 7-10 days, the second appointment will involve the replacement of all temporary crowns with permanent ones within the hour. At this point, you can confidently smile for all eternity!

Smile Makeover with Revolutionary Composite Veneers

ADVANCED COMPOSITE VENEERS

Composite veneers are thin shells made of composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Advanced direct composite veneers are a new technology ‘materials and techniques’ cosmetic dental treatment designed to correct imperfections like discoloration, enamel wear, erosion, chips, stains, gaps, and minor misalignments, creating a very affordable and long-lasting durable smile and yet without requiring any teeth preparations. This is a game changer and offers a new and better alternative to destructive porcelain veneers and crowns which require excessive teeth preparations, leading to sensitivities and even pulp and nerve damages. If you’ve always wanted to improve your smile, advanced composite veneers might be a great choice for you. With no teeth preparations involved for a perfect smile makeover, there is all to gain.

Advanced direct composite veneers can create a perfect smile makeover for you; a novelty minimally invasive approach, and have gained an important revolutionary role in dental clinical applications following the recently developed advanced technology materials and techniques in adhesive and restorative dentistry. Direct application on prepared tooth surfaces or even without any teeth shavings or preparations, with a special advanced adhesive agent combined with a state-of-the-art composite resin material in a single visit is the main procedure as well as the key advantage of these advanced material restorations.

The main aim of this direct procedure is to create minimally invasive and long-lasting restorations. As the dental materials and techniques develop, this allows the chance to mimic the natural dental tissues to create very natural-looking aesthetic restorations in a single appointment. In this way advanced direct composite veneers would be called minimally invasive, functional and long-lasting 'direct aesthetic restorations' that perfectly emulate the natural dental tissues.

Discolourations of teeth, dental malformations, peg-shaped, or mal-positions, mild crowding, diastemas (teeth gaps), teeth fractures, incisal-edge or corner chips, enamel wear, overzealous toothbrushing abrasion or acid erosion enamel defects are some examples of up-to-date indications of direct composite veneers. Enamel hypoplasia, or enamel defect, is commonly a developmental malformation related mainly to some systemic factors such as birth trauma, infections, nutritional disorders, metabolic diseases, or tetracycline exposure. It generally results in poor aesthetics, tooth sensitivity, and susceptible to dental caries (tooth decay).

Direct composite veneer restorations where the whole front surface is covered with composite resin are good treatment options in such cases. A perfect smile makeover can be performed with advanced direct composite veneers in a single appointment. Advanced direct composite veneer restoration, as a minimally invasive method offers a long-lasting functional and aesthetic success, and is one of the most preferred treatment alternatives for restoration of anterior teeth, especially in young patients. Advanced direct composite veneers, as single-visit, minimally invasive, long-lasting and aesthetic restorations, are one of the most promising and popular treatment options for the smile makeover in most clinical applications and they are currently called long-lasting 'direct aesthetic restorations' as they deserve.

Benefits of advanced direct composite veneers

Protection: This is preventive dentistry. Preserves your enamel layer, protecting from further enamel wear due to overbrushing abrasion and acid erosion, restores exposed dentine, or the loss of enamel due to previous overbrushing, solves sensitivities, and prevents dental caries (tooth decay).

Lifespan: Advanced direct composite veneers can last 7-10 years, and can be topped-up easily at any time to last another 7-10 years. These composite veneers are completely versatile, and serve like protective resins (like a mobile screen protector), and can be topped up, or removed, and any accidental chippings that might occur, if you bite on a bone, or on a lobster, all can be easily and quickly repaired.

Cost: These advanced composite veneers are provided at the comparable cost of a routine white filling, and this is much more affordable than porcelain veneers and crowns.

Aesthetic improvement: They can enhance the appearance of teeth by correcting imperfections and the advanced material creates a more long-lasting beautiful uniform smile with no trade-offs.

Minimally invasive: The procedure is totally non-invasive with no tooth preparation involved.  In other words, this treatment is entirely reversible, and value-added (unlike porcelain veneers).

Cost-effective: These composite veneers are affordable compared to typical porcelain veneers.

Instant results: They can be applied in a single visit, usually within 30 minutes, providing immediate functional and long-lasting aesthetic results, expressing all the current benefits of revolutionary dental materials technology.

INVISALIGN - CLEAR BRACES

Invisalign is a high technology system of clear aligners used for teeth straightening, offering a comfortable and predictable alternative to traditional metal braces. They are custom-made, removable plastic trays that gradually shift teeth into the desired position. The treatment involves a series of aligners, each worn for about 7-10 days, and is generally considered more comfortable than traditional braces.

Clear Aligners: The aligners are virtually invisible, allowing for a more confident smile during treatment.

Custom-made: Each set of aligners is uniquely designed using 3D imaging technology to fit the your teeth.

Removable: You can easily remove the aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

Comfortable: The aligners are made from a smooth, flexible plastic, making them more comfortable than metal braces.

Predictable treatment: 3D imaging technology helps to plan and predict the treatment process.

Suitable for various cases: Invisalign can be used to treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, from mild to more complex cases.

Treatment process:

1. Consultation and assessment: To examine and understand, discuss the goals for treatment.

2. 3D scanning: We will take photos and we will use a digital scanner to create a digital model of your teeth. X-Rays will be taken as well to understand further details.

3. Treatment planning: A treatment plan is created using 3D imaging software, mapping out the movement of teeth.

4. Aligner fabrication: A series of custom-made aligners are created after 7-10 days, based on the treatment plan.

5. Wearing the aligners: To wear each set of aligners for about 7-10 days, as instructed.

6. Regular check-ups: Attend regular monthly/bimonthly check-ups to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments.

DENTAL CARE

Scale and Polish

Dental cleaning, also known as prophylaxis, is a professional procedure performed by a dentist or dental hygienist to remove plaque and tartar buildup from teeth. It involves scaling to remove deposits, polishing to smooth the teeth, and may include fluoride treatment. Regular dental cleanings help prevent gum disease, cavities, and other oral health issues.

Fissure Sealants, or Dental Sealants

Fissure sealants, or dental sealants are a preventative dental treatment used to protect the chewing surfaces of teeth, particularly molars, from decay. They are a thin, plastic coating applied to the grooves and pits of teeth, acting as a barrier against food particles and bacteria that can cause cavities.

There is a golden rule that fissure sealants should be applied “as soon as possible after the molars and premolars have erupted”. When the second molars erupt fissure sealants should also be applied - the second molars erupt between 12 and 14 years of age.

Composite Fillings

A composite filling, also known as a tooth-colored or white filling, is a dental restoration used to repair teeth affected by decay, cracks, or fractures. It's made of a tooth-colored mixture of plastic and ceramic, making it aesthetically pleasing and suitable for visible areas of the mouth.

Composite Veneers

Composite Veneers are thin white shells that fit over the front of your existing teeth to protect your enamel or exposed dentine from sensitivities, enamel wear, and acid erosion, and to improve their appearance.

Crowns

Dental crowns, often called caps, are custom-made coverings that encase a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. They are used to fix a variety of issues, including damaged, broken, or decayed teeth, and can also be used for cosmetic enhancements.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic device used to replace one or more missing teeth by joining artificial teeth (pontics) to adjacent natural teeth (abutments). It helps restore chewing and speaking ability, maintains facial shape, prevents surrounding teeth from shifting, and improves smile aesthetics.

Root Canals

Dental crowns, often called caps, are custom-made coverings that encase a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. They are used to fix a variety of issues, including damaged, broken, or decayed teeth, and can also be used for cosmetic enhancements.

Gum Disease Treatments

Gum disease treatment aims to control infection, reduce inflammation, and prevent further tissue damage. It often involves a combination of professional cleaning, improved oral hygiene, and potentially medications or surgical procedures. Early intervention is key to reversing gingivitis and preventing the progression to periodontitis, which can lead to tooth loss. Scaling and root planing is similar to routine dental cleaning. But it cleans deeper beneath your gums, removing plaque and bacteria where your toothbrush and floss can’t reach. The procedure is usually done in at least two visits using local anesthesia.

For loose teeth in gum disease, 'periodontal acid treatment' coupled with conventional deep cleaning is essential with subgingival curettage, and for some loose teeth, they can be stabilized and periodontally splinted with special periodontal splinting techniques, to reinforce and to restore the teeth masticatory function. Periodontal acid treatment after mechanical debridement is significantly superior to basic mechanical debridement alone, disruption of microbial adhesion and reduction of biofilm accumulation on the tooth surface is probably of eminent importance.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, typically made of titanium, that are surgically placed into the jawbone to support replacement teeth like crowns, bridges, or dentures. They offer a durable and natural-looking solution for missing teeth, restoring both function and aesthetics.

TO HAVE GOOD TEETH FOR LIFE - DENTAL ADVICE

The story of your teeth is wholly based on dental preventions. Prevention is better than the cure, and starting with your baby teeth, whereby regular checkups, prophylaxis, and topical fluoride applications forms the very basis. Oral hygiene is paramount.

As soon as the first adult molars erupt around the age of 6 years, and as subsequent adult premolars and molars erupt, pit and fissure sealants or dental sealants should be applied to all these biting surfaces to prevent tooth decay. These dental sealants are pivotal and fundamental disciplinary measures (rituals) to avoid fillings and root canals for the future. One simple application can last 10-15 years and are regularly checked, and can be easily topped-up at any time, or after 10-15 years, only as necessary. This is why adults in-theory should not need dental sealants, if they were supposedly already applied and installed during childhood. But if not, then this could reflect upon the numerous fillings, root-canals, and crowns subsequently treated on the back teeth.

Braces (orthodontics) are subsequently important to correct all malocclusions and crowding, to improve the biting efficiency and occlusion harmony, for a balanced bite, and more importantly is to correct crowding, and to eliminate stagnation areas between crowded teeth so that food and plaque traps are eliminated and brushing is rendered easier, and the teeth are more cleansable. This avoids tooth decay between teeth and prevents gum disease. Braces is primarily a prevention care.

*Wisdom teeth occur from around the age of 20, and ideally, they should be electively removed if they are clearly impacted, or if they are considered highly susceptible to tooth decay and recurrent infections.

HOW TO MAINTAIN GOOD TEETH FOR LIFE:

Teeth are important, nothing grows back, and you must maintain them very well. Maintaining your teeth is such a challenge for everyone, and because the teeth do not grow back, not even the enamel, they are highly susceptible to wear and tear, and deterioration. The most important structure to preserve is your enamel layer, the outer hard white enamel shell which protects the rest of the tooth inside (dentine and nerve), just like the skin of an orange or an apple, because once the skin is gone, the rest of the fruit without the protective layer will spoil very quickly. Enamel will wear, for sure.

You must know, and be aware of these secret key factors which become primarily important to preserve your enamel and teeth. The damages are irreversible.

-ABRASION: People are brushing their teeth too hard nowadays because they want to have whiter and cleaner teeth, but this is destructive because they could be wearing their enamel very quickly to severely limit the lifespan of the enamel; and as the outer white enamel layer is only about 1mm thickness, as soon as it is worn down to 50% or less, the underlying yellow dentine shows through, and then they wonder why their teeth are looking yellow? And then, they start brushing, in fact scorching their teeth even harder! The enamel wears very quickly like so, and then it’s gone. All along, dental plaque is only very soft and does not require vigorous heavy brushing. Thorough brushing up-and-down, or in circular motion is better than across-brushing, Overbrushing, or brushing teeth too hard or too often, can lead to several oral health problems. These include enamel wear, tooth sensitivity, and create receding gums.

*It's important to use a soft-bristled toothbrush, gentle motions, and to brush for about two minutes, twice a day. Or use an electric brush. Never use a worn and flared brush because you’ll start pressing it harder onto the teeth, and yet miss the gum margins. Change the brush regularly every 1-2 months.

-ATTRITION: Teeth grinding (bruxism) is extremely destructive, this is an involuntary clenching, grinding and gnashing of the teeth that usually happens during sleep. Causes can include stress. Treatments include night guards or bite splints (to be worn at night), repair of tooth damage, and surely stress management therapy if required.

-EROSION: Dental erosion occurs when acid starts to dissolve and soften the enamel surface of your teeth. It is most often caused by acid from food or drinks. Excessive vomiting can lead to tooth erosion because stomach acid is in contact with your teeth.

In all events, as soon as any portion of the enamel is worn, the underneath dentine is openly exposed, and because dentine contains nerve endings, sensitivity occurs quickly. Bacteria can easily enter into the dentine tubules and travel into the pulp to cause pulp infection and could result in a root canal treatment, and a crown.

SIMPLE REMEDIES:

If the teeth enamel is worn, due to overbrushing and/or erosion, an extra addition of enamel layer in the form of advanced composite veneers is the simplest and most effective solution to preserving the teeth because no teeth preparations are required, and this inert layer is totally harmless. The benefit is to provide a barrier, a protection layer (from yourself).

For abrasion cavities with exposed dentine at the necks of teeth, at the roots, composite bonding and/or composite veneers covers the root surfaces as well and prevents further gum stripping by your brushing, and prevents further gum recessions, and reduces sensitivities.

For bruxism cases- teeth grinding, stronger and more durable reinforced "special composite fissure sealants" can be easily added onto all your back teeth, like adding an extra "enamel layer" onto the chewing surfaces of your back teeth to grind on, to serve as a new chewing surface platform to prevent and to resist further grinding wear and damages to your precious back teeth, replenish the worn enamel, raise your bite (add height) to also alleviate lower front teeth incisal edges wear, and like so, this effectively works in lieu of, and replaces your night guards, and once installed, you might not even need to wear any night guards if you dislike wearing them; or you could still continue to wear nights guard for your maximum protection (against yourself).

REGULAR CARE:

Maintaining good brushing and flossing habits, regular 6-12 months checkup and cleaning is paramount. Whilst coffee and tea stains are generally harmless, but the hard tartar which builds on the teeth roots (calculus, or calcified plaque), must be regularly removed because they can migrate down deeply alongside the root surfaces into the gums underneath to destroy the gum and bone attachments, which translates into gum disease. Like peeling a banana skin, once detached, it can never reattach, and this is irreversible damage.

Preventive Dentistry

Preventive dentistry focuses on maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems before they arise. This approach involves regular check-ups, cleanings, and patient education to minimize the need for extensive and costly treatments later on.

  • Regular Dental Check-ups:

Routine exams allow dentists to identify potential issues early on, such as cavities, gum disease, or oral cancer, when they are often easier and less expensive to treat.

  • Professional Teeth Cleaning:

Professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup that regular brushing and flossing might miss, helping to prevent cavities and gum disease.

  • Fluoride Treatments:

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria and sugars, helping to prevent cavities.

  • Dental Sealants:

Sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of molars to prevent food and bacteria from getting trapped in the grooves, thus reducing the risk of decay.

  • Early Detection and Intervention:

By identifying potential problems early, preventive dentistry aims to minimize the need for more invasive and costly treatments like fillings, root canals, or extractions.

In essence, preventive dentistry is a proactive approach to oral health, focusing on maintaining a healthy smile and preventing future dental problems through regular care and education.

REVIEWS

I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin Lee for anyone looking for a skilled and caring dentist in Hong Kong. From the moment I stepped into his clinic, I felt at ease thanks to his friendly and professional team (Winky is awesome!) Dr. Lee is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain every step of the dental sealants treatment process, ensuring that I felt comfortable and informed. His gentle approach and attention to detail made my dental procedure smooth and virtually painless. He genuinely cares about his patients’ well-being and goes the extra mile to provide the best possible care. The clinic is also conveniently situated in Causeway Bay, just a two-minute walk from Exit F1 of the Causeway Bay MTR station. If you’re looking for a trustworthy and experienced dentist, Dr. Benjamin Lee is definitely the one to see. I’m grateful to have found such an excellent dental professional in Hong Kong!

Karen Lo

I had an excellent experience at Dr. Lee’s dental practice while getting my clear correct alignments. He is highly experienced and takes the time to ensure everything is flawless. The prices are reasonable, which is a huge plus in Hong Kong, and I found the practice to be reliable and efficient. The nurse is also very knowledgeable and helpful. She always makes sure I get seen at the earliest convenience! I would highly recommend!

Jiewei Wang

Let's face it, most people do not like going to the dentist if at all possible. My toothaches drove me to Dr. Lee when it became unbearable and I feared something major was causing it. The nurse kindly gave me a quick appointment and Dr. Lee examined me visually as well as playing safe with an X ray of the left molar. Then the good news was I was over brushing my back molar and the gums were eroded. He skillfully covered it with some material and reminded me to avoid over brushing. He also advice me to put some sensodyne toothpaste so the fluoride can help rebuild the gum and tooth. I was so grateful for his thorough treatment and went home with a new peace of mind.

Timothy Wu

Went for a cleaning and checkup cause of weird jaw pains. Extremely attentive and very clear with feedback. Good attitude and perfect English. Answered all the questions I had without beating around the bush and only took around 20 minutes in total.

We have been consulting with Dr. Benjamin Lee for about a couple of years or so. He did a marvellous job of fixing my daughter's teeth using invisalign He has been attending to her all through her treatment and even organized additional braces as were required. Most importantly he is a doctor who you can really talk to. He is very jovial and very experienced at the sane time which is very comforting for expats such as us. I went through an implant removal and he made it absolutely painfree though i walked up to him in great pain. Surprisingly, the pain did not return after the procedure. Our experience so far has been very good and we will continue to consult him.
